So many Sophias

The Social Security Administration released its list of top names per state and if you don’t want your daughter sharing her name with 10 other girls in her class, stay away from Sophia, the top name for baby girls born in Maine last year.

According to the data, 79 Sophias, 65 Emmas, 64 Olivias, 62 Isabellas and 59 Abigails were born last year.

As for the boys, the top name in Maine was Liam, coming in at 91, followed by Benjamin (82), Jackson (74), Carter (68) and Samuel (67.)

The Huffington Post put together two easy to read maps of both the top boy and girl names, so you can see how Maine kids stack up against the rest of the country.

** Love this kind of thing? Check out my post about BabyCenter’s names for 2014 (hint: Liam is not number one and you probably won’t be able to guess what is.)
