The event, which is taking place in 39 cities nationwide this year, is a live performance of original work by writers sharing stories about what motherhood means to them.

According to the organization’s website, the mission of the show is to “take the audience on a well-crafted journey that celebrates and validates mothering through giving voice to motherhood – in all of its complexity, diversity and humor.”

Pattie Reaves, user experience and community manager at the Bangor Daily News, said organizers of the Bangor show are looking for stories that are “funny, sad, serious, poignant and anything in between.” They may be previously published on blogs or in print, but must be about motherhood and performed in no more than five minutes.

The Bangor show is being produced by Sarah Cottrell of the blog Housewife Plus, Reaves and Crystal Ponti, founder of the Maine publishing company, Blue Lobster Book Co.
